SafeGuard Easy (SGE) delivers end-user protection for sensitive information on laptops and workstations. Boot protection, pre-boot user authentication, and hard drive encryption, using powerful algorithms, help protect against unauthorized access and hacker attacks.
SGE complements the Lenovo Client Security Solution (CSS) and helps Lenovo differentiate its client systems in the security space. SGE operates with Lenovo's Trusted Platform Module (TPM). When SGE is implemented with the enabled TPM, it binds to the Think client system through protection of the SGE-generated machine certificate by the TPM. The machine certificate is generated by SGE when SGE is installed. Binding SGE to the Think client system means that when SGE starts, it looks for the TPM on the system that it is bound to.
Since the SGE authentication demand occurs before the operating system loads, an unauthorized user cannot utilize a virus, Trojan horse software, keystroke logger, or other malicious software to capture the authentication information used. If you forget the password required to authenticate to SGE, a secure challenge/response procedure is available to reissue passwords. Network connection is not required to accomplish this, only a telephone.
