About DPD deliveries

In current moment courier services are facing a significant increase in shipments due to national restrictions and some deliveries are delayed. The current situation is extremely challenging for the courier industry, as with the introduction of trade restrictions, the volume of shipments has multiplied - according to our estimates, delivery services are currently used by more than 500,000 Latvian households. It means, the number of shipments per delivery region is currently significantly higher than the capacity of companies, even despite the investments made in the last month in infrastructure improvements and additional personnel.

In January total shipments of DPD Latvija has increased by 225%

DPD works in an enhanced mode and by attracting additional forces, however, there may be delays in the delivery of shipments from several days to a week. To stabilize the situation, DPD has taken the following actions:

  • Additional couriers were attracted, increasing the number of couriers from 160 to 219. New couriers are attracted for parcel deliveries every day.;
  • Deliveries are done during weekdays and weekends, parcel places are serviced several times a day;
  • Works 24/7, attracting an additional number of terminal employees to process shipments;
  • Additional premises of 2600 sqm have been taken, increasing by another 1200 sqm in the coming days.

Having understanding that the overall epidemiological situation is unlikely to change fundamentally in the near future, we invite everyone to be aware of the situation! We are inviting to take out shipments from parcel places in time, to avoid repeated courier deliveries (to be on site at the time of delivery), to avoid changing the delivery address and date, etc., as re-scheduling logistics processes puts even more strain on delivery speeds.

We want to thank you for your trust and cooperation in this challenging time. We are relying on your understanding.
